If your monitor is incapable of supporting a particular resolution, do not open a monitor settings file for that resolution. It is possible that there are some poorly designed monitors in existence which can sustain permanent damage from being connected at a resolution which they do not support. The author assumes no liability for any damages—use at your own risk.

  9. If you ever restart your computer and the screen is unreadable because you used the wrong monitor file, then
  10.     •    power off your computer,
  11.     •    unplug your video cable from your Macintosh,
  12.     •    power on your computer,
  13.     •    wait 5 seconds,
  14.     •    power off your computer,
  15.     •    replace the video cable, and
  16.     •    power on your computer (the screen should be back to normal).
